UK's first artificial wave pool confirmed for 2014

The first artificial wave pool of the United Kingdom will open to general public in late summer 2014.

Surf Snowdonia, a project by Conwy Adventure Leisure (CAL), will create the UK's first Wavegarden, in the heart of the Conwy Valley, North Wales.
The surf pool has been granted planning consent and the constructions works will kick off the next months.
"It is excellent news to have received planning permission for Surf Snowdonia and it means we are well on track with our plans to bring surfing to North Wales. We think we will attract up to 75,000 visitors a year, not just surfers but families too", says Steve Davies, managing director of CAL.
The Surf Snowdonia project could create 135 jobs during construction with about 60 jobs after that, according to a report to Conwy councillors, and will be located on a 40-acre site.

The Wavegarden technology is capable of pumping perfect 1.9 meter waves which run for 18 seconds. The model provides two breaking waves every 60 seconds, with a capacity of 50-100 surfers in the lagoon at one time.
