“Dude, I thought we were family. Don’t do this to me.” Episode 3 of ‘What Happened to Clay Marzo’ looks at how Clay lost his major sponsor Quiksilver last year after shifting his focus from competitive surfing to free surfing so as to avoid the social pressures of all the travel. However, after suffering two back-to-back knee injuries Clay soon discovered that free surfing comes with its own set of challenges when his major sponsor decided to drop him from their roster.
