Pipeline will decide the 2013 ASP World Tour champion

The 2013 ASP World Tour champion will be crowned at the Pipeline Masters, on the North Shore of Oahu.

Mick Fanning or Kelly Slater? Is the Australian ready for a third world title, or will the Floridian go for the dozen?

The queen of all waves, the third gem of the Triple Crown of Surfing, the trickiest barrel in world is ready to crown the 2013 ASP World Tour champion.

It all goes down to Pipe. The math is quite simple. Kelly Slater needs to win the Pipeline Masters 2013 to clinch the 12th world title. There's no other way for him.
At the same time, and even if he wins Pipe, Mick Fanning should finish worse than third, that is, worse than a Semifinal. Ideally, Slater would like to halt Fanning in a Quarterfinal clash.
All the remaining results work for the Australian. Even if Kelly finishes runner-up, Fanning will claim the 2013 ASP World Tour title.

In other words, if Mick Fanning reaches the Semifinals of the Pipeline Masters 2013, he will be the next world surfing champion. Who's got the pressure?
