Eric Rebiere wins inaugural stage of the European Tour of Surf

Eric Rebiere has conquered the first stage of the European Tour of Surf, at Arda Beach, in Viana do Castelo, Portugal.

Surfers from Morocco, France, Spain and Portugal have kicked off the competition set by the European Surfing Federation (ESF), an affiliate of the International Surfing Association (ISA).
High quality surfing, good waves and sunny days greeted the fleet of wave riders in Viana do Castelo, home to one of the oldest surfing clubs in Europe, that is Surf Club de Viana.
The French-Brazilian surfer Eric Rebiere defeated José Ferreira, from Portugal, by a very narrow margin: 0.10 points. Eduardo Fernandes and João Guedes kept third and fourth.
"When I go to a contest, I always want to win. People from Viana do Castelo are very nice to surfers, and at Arda Beach waves are often good", says Rebiere.
Xavier Delanne, president of the European Surfing Federation, believes "Viana do Castelo is known in the world of surfing. Logistics were excellent and we're very happy to have kicked the tour in Viana".

The next stop is the Morocco Surf Pro, to be surfed in Oued Cherrat, on the 22nd November 2013.
