Dominican Republic Surf Spots
The Dominican Republic enjoys a mostly tropical climate.
The second largest Caribbean nation offers an annual average temperature of 25°C (77°F) and a wet season from November through January, in the North, and from May through November in the remaining regions of the island.
The southern coast is affected by tropical cyclones, every two years. Hurricanes may occur between August and October.
The Dominican Republic has 1,288 kilometres of coastline and offers very good conditions for surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing and bodyboarding.
You don't need to bring a wetsuit to enjoy the waves and winds of the country. The average temperature of the water is always above 20ºC 68ºF).
Cabarete is the main centre of the action sports scene in the Dominican Republic. In the nearby beaches, enjoy Coco Pipe, Encuentro, The Left, Destroyers, Bozo Beach and Mananero. To the west, there's La Puntilla and to east you'll surf Rio San Juan, Playa Grande and Presioca. All these surf spots are located in the North.
In the South, look for Pato Beach, El Chinchorro, Guibia, Playa Bahoruco and La Boya.
